Your DRVN Coaches

DRVN was not built around a single discipline, personality, or performance archetype.
It was built by people who have lived across the entire performance lifecycle — coaching golfers, training bodies, rehabbing injuries, competing at the highest levels, and building systems that must hold up under real-world use.
The DRVN Team represents the full arc of modern golf performance:
- Preparing the body
- Expressing speed, power, and skill
- Managing risk and recovery
- Sustaining progress over time
- Scaling systems without losing integrity
This is not a brand page. It is a credibility map.
Leadership & Integrated Performance — Michael Dennington (Performance Director & Method Lead)
Michael Dennington leads DRVN's performance philosophy and coaching standards.
As both a PGA Professional and Head of Performance at The York Golf Academy, alongside his role as owner and head coach of CrossFit YO4, Michael brings rare dual fluency: elite golf coaching and high-level strength & conditioning.
Through years of working with golfers across all levels, Michael identified a core failure in traditional systems: golfers are routinely coached into mechanics their bodies cannot safely or repeatedly access.
Rather than separating "golf coaching" and "fitness," Michael built an integrated model where:
- The body is treated as the delivery mechanism for the swing
- Strength, mobility, and sequencing are trained with intent
- Performance gains are measured, not guessed
- Longevity is protected, not postponed
Michael anchors DRVN in its defining principle: high performance should enhance life, not consume it.
Clinical Integrity & Long-Term Durability — Kevin Abel, MSc, MCSP (Clinical Director)
Kevin Abel provides the clinical backbone of DRVN.
With over 15 years in elite professional sport, Kevin has worked with Premiership footballers, All Blacks, World Champions, and Olympians across multiple disciplines. His role ensures DRVN performance systems remain clinically sound, adaptable, and sustainable across long careers.
Kevin's philosophy is clear: rehabilitation should not end at pain relief — it should restore autonomy, confidence, and durability.
As a Head Physiotherapist and APPI Pilates Instructor, Kevin bridges rehab and performance by:
- Identifying risk patterns before they become injuries
- Supporting progression from rehab into full training
- Reinforcing movement quality under load
- Preventing chronic breakdown rather than reacting to it
Kevin ensures DRVN avoids two common traps: performance without accountability, and rehab without progression.
Power, Speed & Physical Extremes — Martin Borgmeier (Distance, Speed & Performance Ceiling)
Martin Borgmeier represents the outer limits of physical expression in golf.
As the 2022 World Long Drive Champion, Martin is widely regarded as one of the most powerful drivers of the golf ball in history. His ability to repeatedly generate extreme clubhead speed under competition pressure makes him a living reference point for what elite sequencing, strength, and intent can produce.
Within DRVN, Martin functions as constraint testing:
- What actually creates elite speed?
- What physical qualities matter most at the edge?
- Where do strength, recovery, and sequencing break down?
- Which assumptions about "safe" or "effective" training no longer hold?
Martin ensures DRVN stays honest about what peak performance really requires.
Adaptation, Development & Transfer — Cassandra Meyer (Applied Power Development & Emerging Performance)
Cassandra Meyer represents the other side of elite performance: adaptation, intent, and system transfer.
An emerging competitor in World Long Drive, Cassandra reached the finals in just her second-ever competition, going head-to-head with the number one female long driver in the world. Her rapid ascent is not accidental — it is the result of disciplined physical preparation layered onto a deep golf foundation.
Cassandra's background includes:
- Competitive junior golf from age nine
- Member of the 2006 Junior Ryder Cup Team, helping secure a tie for Team USA
- Professional experience on the Symetra Tour
- A transition into long drive through targeted training beginning in 2019
Not built like a stereotypical power athlete, Cassandra embodies a core DRVN belief: speed and power are trained qualities, not body-type entitlements.
Her role within DRVN reinforces how power can be developed through sequencing and intent, how non-traditional builds can succeed with the right system, how golf skill and athletic preparation amplify one another, and what it takes to transition into high-performance domains.
Outside of competition, Cassandra is completing her Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) qualification and works in the food and beverage industry, grounding her perspective in both performance and everyday reality. She ensures DRVN speaks not only to peak performers — but to those building toward them.
Skill Execution & Competitive Reality — George Bryan IV (Competitive Skill & Modern Golf Culture)
George Bryan IV grounds DRVN in the realities of competitive golf and modern golfer engagement.
A professional golfer and co-founder of Bryan Bros Golf, George combines elite competitive credentials with a clear understanding of how golfers learn, practice, and stay motivated today.
A three-time All-American at the University of South Carolina and holder of the program's lowest career scoring average, George has competed professionally across multiple tours and made his PGA Tour debut at the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship, where he made the cut.
Within DRVN, George represents:
- Shot execution under pressure
- Skill demands that training must support
- The evolving culture of golf learning
- The bridge between systems and play
He ensures DRVN methods translate to actual performance, not just good sessions.
Systems, Technology & Scalability — Hewitt Tomlin (Systems, Programming & Execution)
Hewitt Tomlin brings the operator's mindset to DRVN.
A former college quarterback turned CEO, Hewitt founded TeamBuildr after recognizing that coaches were still managing training with paper packets in a digital world. Today, TeamBuildr supports 6,000+ organizations, from high school programs to NFL facilities.
Hewitt ensures DRVN systems reduce administrative friction, scale across environments, support coaches rather than overwhelm them, and function under real-world constraints.
He protects DRVN from becoming theoretically strong but practically fragile.
The DRVN System, Not Individuals
| Domain | Steward | What It Protects |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated Performance | Michael Dennington | Coaching integrity |
| Clinical Durability | Kevin Abel | Long-term health |
| Peak Power | Martin Borgmeier | Performance ceiling |
| Applied Power | Cassandra Meyer | Adaptation & transfer |
| Skill & Competition | George Bryan IV | Real-world execution |
| Systems & Scale | Hewitt Tomlin | Sustainability |
This balance prevents DRVN from drifting toward entertainment without substance, performance without accountability, rehab without progression, or systems that collapse under use.
What This Means for You
When you train or certify under DRVN, you are not adopting a single philosophy or personality.
You are stepping into a system shaped by:
- Coaches who work daily with golfers
- Clinicians who protect long careers
- Athletes at both the ceiling and the climb
- Builders who understand scale and sustainability
That combination is intentional. It exists so what you learn holds up under pressure, transfers to real golfers, protects longevity, and evolves without losing integrity.
