Mobility Assessment 101
partner7 min
The DRVN Mobility Assessment is designed to answer a simple but critical question:
How well does this golfer's body meet the demands of the golf swing?
Not in theory. Not in isolation. But in the real, repeatable positions that determine how the club gets delivered to the ball.
The assessment is intentionally simple. It uses five bodyweight movements that can be performed in almost any setting and completed in ten minutes or less. What makes it powerful isn't complexity — it's relevance.
Why This Assessment Matters
Every golf swing is a sequence of positions.
If a golfer cannot access those positions with control, no amount of technical instruction will fully solve the problem. The DRVN Mobility Assessment gives you a fast, standardized way to understand whether the body can actually support the swing you're asking for.
It doesn't diagnose in a medical sense. Instead, it gives you clarity — about movement quality, limitations, and readiness.
How the Golf Swing Is Broken Down
Rather than testing movement randomly, the assessment maps directly to the golf swing itself. We break the swing into five key components, and align each with a basic movement.
- Air Squat → Posture
- Windmill Rotation → Thoracic Rotation
- Split Stance Rotation → Separation
- Glute Bridge → Activation (Strength/Weakness)
- Single Leg Hold → Balance, Stability & Proprioception
Each assessment movement corresponds to one of these swing segments. By testing them individually, we gain insight into how well a golfer can organize their body to deliver sound biomechanics throughout the swing.
This connection between movement test and swing position is what makes the assessment immediately useful for coaching.
How Scoring Works
The DRVN Mobility Assessment uses a simple, standardized scoring system. Each of the five movements is scored on a one-to-five scale, resulting in a total score out of 25.
It helps identify:
- strengths that can be leveraged,
- limitations that need attention,
- and imbalances that may be influencing swing efficiency or consistency.
Most importantly, it gives both coach and golfer a shared reference point.
What This Unlocks for Coaching
With this assessment, you're no longer guessing how the body is contributing to the swing. You can:
- prioritize what actually needs to improve,
- match training decisions to real movement limitations,
- and help golfers improve faster because the work is targeted.
The assessment becomes the foundation for everything that follows — mobility work, stability progressions, rotational training, and eventually more advanced physical development.
How to Use This Section
As you move through the next modules, you'll learn:
- how each movement is performed,
- how it's scored,
- and what the results tell you about the golfer in front of you.
The goal here is to understand how we look at the body, how we relate it to the golf swing, and how to apply a simple framework that scales across all levels of golfers.
When used consistently, this assessment becomes one of the most impactful tools you have — not just for evaluation, but for guiding progress now and into the future.
Closing Thought
Good coaching starts with clear information.
The DRVN Mobility Assessment gives you that clarity — quickly, consistently, and in a way that directly supports better swings and better outcomes.
That's why it sits at the center of the system.
