The Fastest way to improve your Golf Swing
A sub-5-minute routine of T-spine and golf club split stance rotations to improve flexibility, reduce pain and rotate like a pro.

· auto-generatedThese three steps are going to save your golf season because we're going to help you improve flexibility and reduce pain. Move and rotate like a pro and then apply it to your golf swing. It's going to take less than 5 minutes.
All you need is a golf club and an exercise band. And to watch through till the end. I'm Michael, head of performance here at DRVN Golf and Fitness.
And we want to help you move better, feel better, and play better. Today is a great starting point. It's going to get you into much better shape and then you can really start to work on your game.
Step one is to improve your flexibility. Two best stretches for golfers, T-spine split stance rotations and golf club split stance rotations. You can do these three times a week for 5 minutes at a time and you will see a benefit.
Okay, so with the split stance T-spine, we're going to this lunge position. You're then going to support your body weight and take that back knee off the ground. Take your opposing arm, reach right underneath, focusing on that rotation around the spine up and around nice and slow into a full range of motion and then get some rhythm.
So really feel as though you separating the hips, stabilizing the lower body and creating that big rotation around the spine to free you up in terms of how you move. Now the perfect way to combine that is with the split stance rotation with a golf club. Okay.
So, as golfers, we need freedom in the hips and we need to be able to turn around the spine. That is priority number one. That's what this 5minut session is going to do for you.
And when you get a hold of a club, we're going to go into that split stance. So, this time much taller, like a lunge position. That back knee's pointing to the ground.
We've got a solid center of gravity, so we're nice and balanced. And then from there, super simple. We're going to take that club out at chest height.
Press forwards. Then we're going to turn into that lead leg. So from here, turn and load.
Okay? So really make sure you feel your core turning into your hip. We're going to talk about that a lot more later on when we talk about your golf swing.
But here, this is key because this is one of the biggest issues golfers of all levels have, and that is separating the upper and lower body. Because the hips need to turn and load, but the upper body needs to turn further. So when we practice this movement as we get set, the hip is fixed.
We're nice and stable. We turn the upper body. And from there, we're reducing tension in the lower spine.
We're working around the spine. And that hits your rotational pattern to free you up, to reduce pain, and to give you access to a better golf swing. Next up, we're going to take the exercise band and drill your biomechanics.
So, by using resistance, we're giving you more feel and activating the muscles further so you have more to work with in your golf swing. This combination is so impactful. It really will give you the feels that you need.
We're going to start with a swing arc pump drill. Nice high attachment, mid to low resistance band. We're not looking to go too hard here.
And then set into your golf posture. Get nice and comfortable. Stay dynamic.
And what we want to do first is allow that band to stretch you into that top of the swing position. So, this is pulling us away, improving our flexibility, and then starting from the ground, just like in your swing, we fire the hips and get down into an impact position. Now, we're under tension.
The core is firing. We're using the ground. The upper body is really creating pressure, and then we allow it to return into that stretch position.
Stretch and fire. You can see there, I'm maintaining that center of gravity. We're allowing that stretch.
So, we're improving our range of motion. And then we're sequencing from the ground through the core to create pressure and work against that resistance. And yes, for the stretches, for these drills, for these exercises, always work both sides of the body because symmetry is a huge thing.
If we continue to just work one side, you're going to get overuse injuries. It's going to wear you down. If you work both sides of the body, your body react will react well.
Okay, we're going to take that same band and go to a knee high attachment. So, lock it in. Now, having worked on the arc pump drill in the back swing into impact, we're now looking at the dynamic through impact position.
This is the impact swing with a step to release. Okay, so hands together just like you're holding the club there. We go with feet together.
We step into our golf posture, fire the hips, and release. Okay. So, this is about kinematics.
This is about foot first and then drive through. Be aggressive. Feel like those hips clear to the target and then you follow it with the upper body just like we do in the on the game.
So, by combining those two movements, we increase range of motion. We improve how you feel your center of gravity. Huge for consistency.
Then we improve your kinematics so you move more consistently and you take this into the game which is why you need these two drills. You got more flexible. We improved your biomechanics.
Now we give you the drills to take this into your golf swing. Number one is our OG. This is an absolute winner for almost any level.
Okay. What we're going to do is the back swing loading drill. We're not going to hit from here.
This is just to help you load the hip, turn around the spine, and get into the best back swing position possible. You can do this at home. All you need to do is align with your ball with the trail foot.
This gets us into a set position. You're going to take it to the top and you're going to focus on two key things. Number one is how you load your core against that trail leg.
That is super important. That's stability. That's pressure.
That's power. Okay. Number two is that when we turn, we get our lead shoulder in line with the ball.
So now we're stable, loaded, and we've made a full turn. So you can drill that every single time. Left shoulder to the ball, and then load up.
So you can feel that pressure. You can feel how well you have turned. And then if you apply that to your actual swing, we go to our playing position.
You do exactly the same thing. Core against the trail leg, lead shoulder behind the ball. And now you have a fully loaded back swing with all the power you could want.
So if you want to use that power, the next drill goes back to your biomechanics and gets you speed and movement. Step to swing drill. Super simple.
You've seen it before, but having applied it through the loading drill into this movement is going to be so effective. Start with the feet together. Get that full wide turn going back and step through impact.
That fights your hips. That gets you turning to the target. That increases the speed on the club head.
And a few reps of these once a week can absolutely change how you swing the club and how much power you can generate. Oh yeah. So there you have it.
Flexibility work three times a week for just five minutes. Then we work on our banded exercises. If you can do that twice a week for 10 minutes, you are winning.
And then once a week, 10, 20 minutes drill session on your game, you will see phenomenal progress in how in terms of how your body works and how that improves your golf swing. Then you take these feels to the course, you take that improvement in mobility and power, you're going to play better, and then it's on you to go and apply that to the course so you can shoot some great scores. And if this gets you started out, if this gets you moving better, feeling better, and playing better, the next step is to get the DRVN golf and fitness app.
You'll have the perfect program for you in less than one minute, and then you can really take your golf fitness to a whole new level. That is when you will golf strong, and we can't wait to see you there.
