· auto-generatedThe five things that you need to know about golf Fitness quick backstory before we get into those five main factors I myself started playing golf around 15 and rapidly progressed from there to about 18 or 90. Unfortunately during that time I also got considerably overweight I was not fit I was not healthy and it wasn't good for my gear so that's where the journey really began because on one side we had the golf journey I became a professional I was competing not very well but I was I was coaching and I was working with golfers all different levels on the fitness side I started to really work with my brother on my own health and fitness we found different levels of performance we're going to CrossFit refined it down and basically I own my own gym now as well as all the different qualifications on the fitness and the golf side that is what golf Ward is today so these firefighters are based on an awful lot of experience through my own performance getting to that high level but also working with every different type of golfer and every day individual in the gym so really we have a great data set to work with let's get to the five Factor number one is that not every exercise you do should look like a golf swing this is a terrible thing in the golf Fitness industry everything should be on some kind of apparatus that makes us feel like we've been performing a golf swing you can do some rotational patterns and you absolutely should you should work asymmetrical balance and these are all the types of things that we do on a daily basis but if all your focus is on trying to perform a golf swing in different ways you're not actually giving yourself any improved physical tools generally speaking everyone who plays golf does everything else way more than they play golf and that's where our mission really came from because we want to inspire health and fitness through and for golf yes we want to step on the tee and feel excellent with our body we want to be able to hit the ball better we want to be able to play better golf but what we aim to do is use that as a real motivation to improve every aspect of your life because if you can do that health and fitness is Paramount and at that point you want to be strong you want to be fit in terms of endurance and cardio and you want to move well because then everything in your life gets better that's where we are and we want to make sure that golfers get the most complete training stimulus so your body's better any game can be better then your life can be better when that comes for Circle you're really making some progress thank you Factor number two lifting weights is not bad obviously I'm a bigger guy wearing a CrossFit gym right now the golf world programs are refined we have every different type of program in there from zero equipment at home to full strength and conditioning but the fact is getting strong moving well is going to be good for any physical Endeavor and people always talk about flexibility you want to be able to use the joints better take away those aches and pains unfortunately a lot of the golf industry thinks that lifting weights actually exacerbates that is completely incorrect in terms of injuries the worst way to get injured is the golf swing you see how you twisting you've got lots of speed there's a lot of shitty golf swings out there that is how you put the most pressure on your body however if you lift weights with a full range of motion excellent form and the suitable load you're actually going to improve your range of immersion which most people classes flexibility you're going to have better overall movement patterns the joints are going to function the way that they should and all of a sudden the body starts to feel good so if you go into a program that allows you to progress over time hit proper form as we help everyone to do you're going to see some huge gains guys right the worst thing to be is weak and fragile we all know that and even if you don't want to get super strong or huge you still need to be able to function okay Baseline strength is huge that is why you need to lift weights [Music] three frequency matters what do you mean by frequency pretty simple is how often you trip one of the biggest obstacles the golfers training properly and really making some progress is that when they step in the gym your body gets sore then you go and try to play golf and it's like oh my goodness your whole body doesn't feel good you're really restricted and it doesn't go too well that's because you shocked your body in such a way that it responded how it needs to respond that's the whole point of training is to essentially break down the body to an extent and then allow it to repair in a different level but if you don't train for x amount of time then jump in start lifting weights you're going to get Doms you're going to get that soreness and that's not going to be good for your performance on the course or in the gym so it's about having a longer term Vision you can have short-term goals but make sure that your frequency is on point so if you're used to training three times a week stay consistent get a good stimulus look at how that works throughout the whole season maybe you train more in the off season and play more golf in the summer but don't let it get down to zero guys otherwise your body will not be happy when you get back to it factor four is similar to factor three but a little bit more specific and that is timing matters we get asked an awful lot can you just lift and then go to the course and play yes I can I'm so used to doing this I pretty much lift everyone there and when I'm on it mentally I play golf most days as well all right but I've got to such a point now we've talked about frequency previously I'm training so often I know my body I know my golf swing even if I've been training for a period of time and not really playing any golf I can stand up know that my body will respond well and hit some shots they might not go straight but I'm going to hit some shots all right and that's kind of the way the game goes anyway but in terms of your timing that's going to be relative to your overall week and then the month and then the year as a whole and this is where a program really does come up big because understanding how to lift when to lift and then different types of training to build your endurance your power your speed it needs to be factored in so typically you want to keep your heaviest lifts while really challenging the body the furthest away from your game time okay so if you think of a week if you play on a Saturday at your Club medal your Club Championship lifting heavy on a Monday and then moving faster through the week working on different ranges of motion different body patterns and different lifting Styles is going to help you to go from heavy with recovery turn it into Power turn it into speed get your rotation on point and you compete for the weekend you come back around you lift heavy on the Monday and then work it all the way through it's an incredible way as so many of our members have seen huge gains here you do not have to do it like that but timing matters and the more experience you have the better your frequency the better your timing the better your performance Factor number five and this is one that people might have a little bit more of a hard time really accepting or trusting in the beginning and that is you can actually see more progress when you improve your Fitness your health your range of motion relative to just whacking balls and trying to practice your swing because if your body is physically in good shape and can deliver the swing that you want you can then improve the technical side much quicker because you're not trying to fight your body you're not trying to do something that you cannot do and that is huge so if we get the body to move well rotate in the way that we need to for the golf swing have excellent Baseline strength and then turn that into functional output that sounded complicated that's just what we do at golf one all right we do it all for you don't have to think about but if your body's in good shape and it's moving well if you feel fit and healthy when you step up to you're going to get better results you're going to have less fatigue and your mood's going to be uplifted as well so if you're working on something technically you're going to have more to work with you can make changes quicker and you can see improvements faster as well that's why having a solid program making sure your body's on point and then improving your game is the way to go all right these are five factors that we have learned over 15 years of really working hard on golf Fitness all the Synergy different levels and we hope that you take a lot out of these guys right because we want to help every single golfer to move better feel better and play better all right that's our mission we're here at golf one and we're going to get it done all right there's no limits to this we want everyone to get on the program all right hope you enjoyed the video let us know what you think about the five factors make sure you subscribe
