· auto-generatedThe best golfers in the world train all year round for performance, for consistency, and for injury prevention. The majority of amateur golfers do not. And that's why we created DRVN.
Because we want to help you to train more like a pro golfer, not so that you can go and compete, but so that you can feel great, be mobile, swing faster, and play get better golf without getting injured. Okay, that's what it's all about. And we're going to look at three different phases of training that we use throughout the year to help you not only train in the off season, but also to have a solid preeason and then train all year long without getting overly fatigued, without pushing your body too far, but while seeing incredible performance gains on the course.
All right, and at any point in this video, if you know that this is what you want to do, head over, get yourself a 7-day free trial to the DRVN app. Get a personalized program pathway and start training for golf in the best way possible. Now, for too long, golfers have thought about lifting weights and training hard as being negative for performance.
We know that's different and it is changing all round. Look at Rory Maroy. Look at the best players in the world.
They're training hard. They're moving fast. They are athletes.
All right? And that means that you need different phases of training because you need strength if you want to have power and then power turns into speed. If you do one without the other, you're going to break down and the system is not as effective.
So what we look to do is to have a solid off season where we're going to change the body and create adaptation. We're going then going to prepare for the season with maximal power to really change how your body uses that strength. And then during the season, we want to move well, swing fast, and feel as though we're absolutely on top of our body and our game.
So, we're going to take you through those sets right now. So, we've just gone through the off season. This is where you lift heavy, you're going to use progressive overload, and you're going to change your body.
That does make sense, and lots of golfers think that way in terms of I will train during the winter, and then when the season comes around, they turn it off too much. Okay? But we want you to hit the winter season with a focus on improving leg strength and then overall capacity so that your joints are stronger, your muscles are active and doing what they need to do.
And you then have all of the function and performance levels to turn that into power and speed later. So we look at progressive overload. That is where we go progressively stronger, heavier weights over time with less reps so that you change how your body can move an amount of weight.
Box squats are an incredible option for golfers because it's going to load the whole body but with support at the bottom so that you can really focus on how strong your legs are and how you push up out of the ground. Add in the additional core stability and posture. When you work on these with great form consistently, you're going to see the changes that you want to see headed into the season.
So over winter, the offseason phase that we've all just completed, we're going to see lots of volume on the lifting side and less intensity elsewhere. We still want to rotate. We still want to make sure our body is moving the way that we feel it needs to, but the focus is on strength.
Then we get into the preseason. We're just finishing out those cycles now. You can see on the graphic on the screen, this is how we're going to work through the season.
Okay? Again, you can't have speed and power without strength. So, we need that baseline.
But power work is where we really have some fun. Here, we're going to take the weights down from our maximal lifts in the strength phase, and we're going to move them faster. This is where you really do get explosive in your training.
This is where we start to focus on single leg work, plyometrics, and a lot of medball slams to maximize how fast you can move when it comes to your training. If you're looking at intensity and time in the winter, the intensity comes from those heavy weights. It's going to be slower.
It's all about changing your body. When we get into that preseason phase, the time is going to come down slightly. Take it around that 60 minute mark if you have the time and the capacity.
And then the intensity goes up with how fast and the sets and reps that we use. We're going to put some workouts up here as well for you. Make sure you check out that free trial to the DRVN app.
But what about in season? This is where so many golfers decide that they are not going to train because they're out on the course. They don't want to get injured.
They don't want to get stiff, which is the totally wrong mindset. Right? This is where you can get ahead.
Because if you train during the season with the right plan, with the right movements, your body's going to move better, feel better, and then you're going to play better. Here, we take the weight right down. Aside from our foundational strength work, which goes through cycles all the way through the season, here we want to move like we do in the golf swing.
We're looking at being primed and ready to go. So, we want to get the glutes functioning with solid single leg work again, but moving faster. We want to go into rotational elements that are going to prime your speed.
Okay? And you can see all these workouts we've got for you here. These are the types of sets and reps that going to set you up for success.
Think 45 minutes, sub maximum weights, lots of mobility, and lots of work on your biomechanics so that during the season you're not overly fatigued. You are moving better and your body is moving as fast as possible. Now, how do you take that into the swing?
This is where we really do a lot of our work. Okay, in the gym, you are essentially getting the raw materials ready. You're making your body move in the way that you want it to.
You're working on your rotation. You're working on your mobility so that when you go to the range, one, you have more energy, you have more durability, so you can hit more balls and practice a skill more consistently. And number two, it can deliver better results.
So when you do try to make a swing change, whatever that might be for your game, your body is more able to create that change and therefore see quicker progress when we get to work. All right? So if you can hit more balls with a better body that delivers better results and then work on the right elements for your swing, your trajectory is going to be incredible.
And that is why we give you the training protocols that are the same as the best players in the world. Remember, we all want to train for health, for fitness, and then for performance in that order. So, wherever you are, make sure you have a solid plan, make sure you're consistent, then stay motivated by getting consistent progress week on week.
All right? And tracking that is incredibly important. We use our unique golf fitness handicap to do so.
Adds a little fun, but also you're going to rack up that consistency. And just like when you are on the course, you want to make sure that consistency in the gym pays off, okay? And it does.
If you're consistent, you're going to get all of the those results we just talked about. And then you go to work on your game. Okay?
So, these are the three main phases of training within the DRVN year. We go up and down like we showed you, and you can get more details on all of our programs with the free download in the bio here. Hit that link.
