What's going on guys welcome back to the second tour player tuesday all right guys and this is probably going to be the most valuable for the most golfers because it's going to be relatable and it's going to have a big impact on your game okay we're going to be talking about john round who is the most consistent golfer in the world right now is he great off the tee plays well with the irons you know he's got it going on guys and also he doesn't have physical attributes that are completely unachievable for many people okay it does have a pretty normal kind of skill set physically so it gives us even more reason to look into his swing and take as many factors from it and put it into your game guys all right so that's what we're gonna check out now we're gonna have a look at the swing we're gonna get into some of the technique where we've got some drills we've got some talk about the wrist as well then we're gonna give you the strength aspect to build the body so that you're super strong through the core and around the spine so you can play consistent golf like you buy rambo [Music] so guys checking this swing out down the line so the first thing that you can recognize it's a pretty short swing okay we've got loads of power and the thing that we really want to focus on is his ability to use the ground create an amazing sequence whilst not having a massive range of motion okay everyone's range of motion is going to differ based on various different things obviously rahm has talked about that in terms of his lower body has some restrictions but what we want to look at is what we can take away from this okay and it's the ability to engage the core use the strength of the body around the strength of the legs to create a massively consistent swing so we can see at the top there really the hands are only just above the height of the shoulder this is not a massively long range swing okay so the lower body is fully loaded we're using the mass of the torso to load into that trail leg the feeling that we'll get into later and I really like to feel as though the core actually turns against that trail quad that lines everything up and that gives us great ground pressure and also amazing sequencing so you can see here without the hands getting too far the club is then left behind shallows out because of the power from the lower body and that wrist position come down into impact and obviously into the impact position we maintain posture maintain center of gravity all the force is coming from the ground and we're just putting as much into it as possible all right and again this is these are positions that you can really create in your game and that's what we're going to continue to look at so one more time full speed from this angle very neutral setup good spine angle we stay turning around that spine pressure the ground and then put some heat on it let's move on to the next side second swing guys we've got face on okay so again you're going to see all those same factors amazing ground pressure strong core turning around the spine and we're also going to observe that really there is no wasted movement okay and that's a really good way to think about the swing you think about efficiency you think about consistency which is what all golfers want if we can make the same motion deliver the club the same way each time that ball is going to fly pretty similar fashion and that is where you really build that consistency okay so looking at it a little slower a little press of the hands and a little shift into the back foot just to grain that ground pressure to give yourself that awareness when we get to the top look how stable we are here okay so again the left arm is straight so when the people talk about a lot however nowhere near at that 90 degree angle okay so the body's turning against the lower half but the arms they're essentially just pointing away from the chest it gives you good width but it's got to really shallow out and stay in that lag position and that's where the lower body comes in so as round drives through the ground you'll see that the club gets left behind and it's this drop and drive that you get so much power and so much consistency in that flight okay again notice how the whole time the focus is down on the ball from the eyes the torso the mass and the center of gravity all over the ball and we just power through the ground to drive through impact guys all right again no wasted movement and this is a great angle to see it and a cool angle here guys right so look down the line we look face on here we've got that kind of angled position you can see a lot of the posterior and this is what we see on the length of that swing again we get up to the top of the swing hands just clearing that trail shoulder okay so we're not seeing massive high hands we're just using the torso using that strength and also if you look at how the pressure shifts through these feet okay so we get set pretty neutral we have a little shift into the trail foot we then unload the left and as we push we then unload the right and it's that mechanism that transition that's driving this swing okay so all of the power here is going from the lower body transferred to a super strong core and then just delivering that club face so consistently okay and that's where the strike comes in that's where all of that consistency throughout the season pretty much competing to win every single week comes from these factors guys again if you look at those hips the drive the rotation there's not massive amounts of range there's an awful lot of efficiency okay guys we're going to look at one more angle and I'm going to take it to the map final angle guys all right so how does a swing this shot create easy distance all right we're talking 180 plus ball speed whenever needed and we've obviously got a cut going on in there as well okay so we talked about a lot of the factors we're using the ground we're using the strength of our body which is going to be the legs and the core that's the same for everyone however someone like dustin johnson huge range they can use that leverage in the arc to create easy power okay for someone a little thicker like my boy john here we need to prime the body use the ground and just strike it right out of the middle okay so that's what we see here as we go through again another slightly different angle we load the cause turn against that trail quad the club's behind the body and as we then transition the hands are going to fall in such a cool way all right that's what gets him into such a good slot position we get shallow and then we can hit across the ball and hit that face it's just super consistent okay not everyone wants to hit a fit okay so obviously the weak left hand and the bird position at the top is what creates the fade for ram okay so when we get to the map we're going to show that using these body mechanics using the positions that we see here we can very easily change that to a fade to a draw to whatever we want to see guys all right so it's a case of no wasted movement we want super levels of efficiency car engagement and ground forces all right so we're going to give you a couple of drills now on the mat we're going to talk about those wrist positions and then we'll take it to the gym as well okay guys so this swing is super simple and super repeatable okay so this drill is going to be pretty much the same okay it's gonna be all about awareness and engagement okay and what we talk about is the core which is the whole of your trunk essentially we're looking at every muscle here we want to create pressure against your trail side okay again the way I like to think about it call against quad if the quad's pushing in and the car is pushing out we're creating a nice level of engagement talk and rotation okay so here but very simply we're just going to go for an awareness drill I want you to take the club back parallel with the ground okay so hands are going to get out we're going to tear the foot back where you have the face will dictate where the ball is going to go okay so if we have the toe square up the face is going pretty square impact if we have the face sweat aiming down we're going to get close face and if we have the face aiming up we're going to get an open face okay so again you can create awareness of the body and the club face just for this simple drill okay we're essentially going to hit a pitch shot with a 7-iron I have here I want you to illustrate to yourself how much pressure how much distance and how much speed you can create just by using the body effect okay so all we're going to do and you can do a couple of drills where first of all we stop take a look engage and be aware of the positions whilst also engaging the ground right core against quad okay and very simply we're going to take it parallel to the ground we're going to then turn through and we're gonna finish parallel to the ground on this side okay so we're really gonna shorten down the swing and I want you to understand how much pressure and how much compression on the ball we can get from such a short swing okay so if I go through here just take our standard setup position have a little look first of all check your position create that pressure under the right foot and then as we do we're going to match you up same distance on the way through so get set use the ground keep the eyes on the ball we turn and even though it's a super short swing we get the compression on the ball we've got a nice little cut that 167 yards tall okay so it's just an awareness drill but when we're thinking about so many different things in the swing we go to the range we think about wrist hinge we're thinking about the swing art how the body turns keep it simple all right john ram is the best example of that because he's pretty much doing that week after week on the pga tour and doing a pretty good job all right guys so one other thing I want to touch on quickly as we mentioned in the video how you want the ball to fly okay not all of us want to hit a cut when you're at high speeds it's easier to maintain consistency and reduce dispersion however it's very simple to change this guys right so ram he has a weaker left hand which is where we're going to turn towards the target that means the face is more likely to stay open which ram uses with that bird position to turn hard left and more often than not just hit that little cut okay so if you go with that position really very simple if you're going to play with a weak grip and a bird position you have to turn hard to the left because the ball has to start left of target so it can curve back to the right for a right-handed player okay so small changes with exactly that same swing you're going to make a big difference so we get set weak on that side as we turn it back we get slightly bored back here and it's all body turned so as we go into that position you're going to see the ball is going to cut out to the right okay the maintenance of those positions and how you preset this impact is going to a massive impact guys all right and just to illustrate if we then go the other way and we strengthen the grip so the back of the hand is facing upwards we'll be able to use the same body positions the same amount of rotation and we're going to be easily able to change it into a drop okay and if you prefer a draw you can still dial it up okay same short swing we get a nice strong position the face is now going to rotate more we use that same ground pressure and we can exaggerate a little it's going to turn over right to left okay get a little bit of a pull but you can see immediately the difference in distance there as well okay so that comes down to your impact factors where you want your game to be but that's how much we can change this around guys all right so engage be aware of your swing and just focus in on the quality of your strike so we can build it up down the line okay right now we're trying to finish this up because the biggest factor here is that your body is going to be strong in the legs in the car so when you take it to the course you know exactly where that power is coming from okay guys three movements in the gym to prime your body for the most powerful and efficient swaying guys right these are things that we do time after time program them in because they work all right this is super effective that's why we do it okay number one is going to be the pump sorry swing arc pump drill okay so you think about what we talked about with ram how he could focus his center of gravity down on the ball and the width and the range of the swing was what it was that's what you're priming here with this drill okay so we get central golf posture you want to focus your center of gravity your spine your eyes straight down we let the band pull us back into position that trailer hip is loaded and then you're going to sequence okay so you're practicing the exact movements that rama's in the swing we're going to engage off the right side we're going to pull ourselves into that position and we're going to rotate down into that impact position okay obviously work both sides you want to be strong on both sides but then as we work back up load into that side create tension and engagement back down into impact okay awesome for the call awesome for your range of motion we get up to the top and five okay again the bands are super effective for this guys all right next up is the hex bar dead lift okay guys so really here we're just looking at hip hinge okay we're gonna focus on the hex bar deadlift it's an excellent way for golfers to work maximum power off the ground without that front-loaded traditional deadlift however I recommend those as well okay we can set this all the way down to kettlebell swings even banded good mornings engagement to make sure the big muscles are working okay and again that's how brown gets that power the legs the torso we're using the ground and that's where the speed comes from okay so we're building the strength we're building the capacity from the ground and the hex bar is a great way to do it guys all right so this allows us to organize the body really push through the heels through the entire posterior chain up into that solid position okay how you train for strength will change throughout the whole season and that's what we're here for guys all right but in terms of execution we get set feet are gonna be underneath their hips you're gonna push the hips back so we load the hamstrings as we get set want a neutral spine down into your setup position from here you're going to push into the ground quads glutes everything's firing including the upper body as well all right so we get set big breath in [Music] we have some good load on it massive engagement through the ground which is what we need into the swing this is a full body exercise and that's what we need to build the kind of strength to power our golf swing and continue to build on a powerful consistency okay final movement guys we're going to use the med ball we're going to go into the single leg rdl and then single leg cross body slam guys all right so again like to use med balls last we've excited the body the neuromuscular system so the muscles are working they're fired up and now we put in stability skill and speed okay so once you start to prime the body like that you can see some amazing gains okay and you think about the golf swing again unilateral forces the whole time through here we're organizing an even more challenging pattern and then delivering as much speed as possible okay so for this movement here we're going to single leg hinge so very small flex at the knee we work through that pattern as we then engage up and through we balance we bring ourselves back through that hinge and as we then counterbalance we bring the knee forwards and slam okay once you go through that pattern the balance stability and awareness that's going to go into your swing as well as the power and speed transfer is going to be huge guys all right so let's go for a couple of reps so we hinge lift fire okay that speed down the snap of the hips is super important so guys that is an overall view of john ram and his game and how you can bring it into your own game okay learn from the swing itself we're looking at massive levels of consistency because he matches the swing to the body uses his strength to dial it up and get it done okay so we're focusing on the legs we're focusing on ground forces turning the car maintaining center of gravity and then using the grip using the first angle to create the ball flight that we want guys right then into the gym we need to work on it all okay we're looking at core engagement awareness we're looking at strength and power and then the ability to stabilize and use that power in efficient and challenging patterns okay so john rob is definitely somebody you can be learning from guys I hope you enjoyed this video I hope you can take some of it forwards work on the drills see the ball fly get in the gym and then get the full programs so you really can go strong guys all right and if not already subscribe to the channel check out our membership options and tell your friends
