This is part one of our three video speed series and today we are going to create you a fully loaded backswing [Music] in this series we are going to combine fitness with drills and then exact deals of how to take it into your swing we are going through the progressions of the backswing into the transition and then the impact position that's why it's a three-part series and that's why we're starting with the backswing in terms of fitness we've got to be able to turn around the spine work through the thoracic spine and load against the ground that's what means exercises are gonna do let's get to work movement number one is the t spine press through now here we're gonna go into our gulf posture pretty much all the way through okay want to start in a nice grounded position slight hinge at the hip and then we're going to work through the thoracic spine middle of the back we want to press away using that variable tension the trail arm is going to extend up and that puts us into that loaded rotation around the spine okay guys as we press through keep your tension down just like you do in the swing cause engaged feet are going to stay neutral in this movement and we're working through rotation and looking again a little extension through the thoracic spine all right so we sit nice control motion press through that gets us dyed out guess it's moving through the t-space movement number two is going to be the swing arc pumps repeat the band all the crossover symmetry a little higher maintain the same position so we're getting used to working with dynamic patterns in our golf posture and here we're going to let that tension extend away from the body okay so this time the hips are going to move a little bit more we're fully loading into that swing position and from creating height we're then going to engage and change direction okay so you must be working against the ground that foot needs to load going back we encourage increase our range of motion and then we come down into the impact position so we're definitely using the ground we're looking at working through the thoracic spine it's a different challenge because of the pull aspect so again that push-pull as well as the rotation and the core activation from here we're changing direction and working down into that swing position okay remember we're going to work on both sides all the time to create balance and symmetry as well as longevity and performance guys right those are the first two times to get more dynamic final movement of this set is going to be lateral bounds all right so we focused on range of motion and the upper body predominantly so far now we're going to look at how we load against the ground and create really solid footwork okay the lateral bound again we're going to be in that good body position just naturally athletic it's going to be pretty close to our gulf posture and from here we're going to lower down into one foot let the opposing foot trail behind and then spring across you can start small but the key is to load your body weight against the ground okay you don't want that foot rolling you want to turn against the foot let your body work against and then look the more you use the body weight against the ground the more of an equal reaction force you get back that means you can create power speed lateral motion and once we add that into the rotational element and range of motion we just looked at we have some awesome benefits to take into the swing which we are going to do with the rpm drill [Music] this is the rpm drill okay we got the dials on there and we're revving up guys all right so you got three clubs or alignment aids on the ground okay each is going to do a specific thing and this is going to bring the whole swing together whilst loading your back swing okay so the three clubs take our normal ball position I got seven iron so just ahead of center and what we're gonna do here is three things all at once right number one we're gonna have the trail club inside our trail foot okay so I want to focus on here when I turn is that I get my body as close to in line with that club as possible okay that means we fully turn the shoulders if we maintain the footwork we had in the lateral bounds we're working against the ground we're fully loaded and that means we can change direction with power and speed okay so the second club is going to be more or less on our center of gravity okay so when we're hitting the ball we don't want to see too much lateral okay so this club here is going to match up to our spine angle so that when we look rotate we're going to hit those positions we did with the t-spine rotation okay because as we turn we load against that trail club but our spine angle stays in line with that leading that middle club okay from here that means we've loaded this trail hip we turned around the spine and we get a little bit of extension so that when we come down we can do the opposite compress and go back into flexion okay the final club simply is going to be for your ball position so as I said before this is going to align us up just to show us where we're at we're going to be able to work against that center of gravity correct that ball position and load going back guys right so here you can hit any club you want to just change the ball position as needed think of it as a spectrum from the center your 990 wedge through to the driver which is going to be inside that lead foot okay guys so when I'm working through this drill we're hitting full shots again one more time we're going to create a full backswing loading behind that trailer club we're going to maintain our spine and go on top of the middle club and then that final one is going to get our ball position right so that we can crush it so we get the footwork right we get that full rotation through the thoracic spine which is why we do those press throughs why we do the swing arc pump drill because that's just gonna increase our ability to turn and our awareness of where our center of gravity is we then use that lateral bound force so we power our swing get the footwork going and these three clubs on the ground is going to dial in every piece so you can build up your swing and get some serious reps for progress so guys in terms of taking that to the swing we want to hit shots like that as much as possible that was pretty flush for me my typical swing is going to be slightly from the inside with a strong face so a draw ball flight is going to happen but you can easily hold the face off and hit across it here fade if you need to all right but in terms of the backswing it's one of my most important thoughts is to load okay and I always go to the lead shoulder okay so when I turn back I want to make sure that when I turn my lead shoulder is working over the trail side whilst that trail hips rotate okay so we're not getting lateral by turning down and really letting the left the lead side work into the trail side we get a fully loaded element we get extension through the trail side we have nice high hands and from there the ability to change direction and hit the ball becomes really simple guys all right so I like to focus on that lead shoulder get that behind the ball work it down towards the trail foot and then from there you're going to engage across the system you load against the ground and just change that right [Music] okay guys yes I have the same feels all the way through the bag guys all right so that's how I fully load my backswing I want to make sure the lead side compresses down and into the trail side that gives us extension that gives us engagement all the way through the system and helps us work against the ground once you go to the driver it's all the same it's just more guys right the club's longer it's going to travel faster it's going to travel further let it happen trust your body positions load up into that backswing and know that if you do your downswing is ready to go you're gonna be able to hit the ball easier with more consistency and more power because your body's gonna be able to repeat that motion and get it done guys all right so this is part one you have now fully loaded your backswing part two we're looking at that transition because once we're at the top in a great position we need to make sure the body is leading we've got natural progression and we've got everything going on down into the ball guys right so hit that next time make sure you check out all three parts of this series guys because it's gonna help you golf strong guys alright so subscribe to the channel tell your friends get the app and do the work [Music]
