Why do you keep getting told you need to use the ground more in your golf swing and how is it going to help you hit it further let's get to what ground reaction forces are all about how you use your body weight and momentum to use the ground for leverage and speed in your golf swing the best players do it everybody talks about it is how you push it's how you rotate it's how you create all that lateral Force the power Trifecta now too many golfers do not use the ground at all well you're going to see that over the top movement you can see inefficiency and you're going to see a lack of distance and consistency no golfer wants that so you're going to want to improve here we're going to start on the Range we have a very simple drill that you can use anytime you're hitting balls to max out your speed and clear your hips better through the ball the Lead Foot jump drill here we're going to exaggerate the feel of how the lead leg pushes into the ground through impact so you get that vertical extension and really create an amazing impact position you can do this without the ball and what we're looking to do is as we come through the ball we're going to really push up to the point where I lead foot comes off the ground now do this relatively on Mobility but do it at a speed where you just continue to build intensity so what we're looking to do we create that full backswing position and push out of the ground you can see how once we push our hips clear this is an incredible drill to exaggerate that feeling of getting out of the ground clearing the body and then clearing away for an aggressive consistent impact position so that's how you do it technically that's going to help you to use the ground clear the hips but what if your body is not able to create the speed that you want you're going to combine these two movements and you're going to get in the gym to improve your overall power potential movement number one is a single leg plier hop this is really good for foot mechanics and Ankle Health as well as reacting against the ground and creating acceleration start at a level where you're comfortable do not jump too high until your foot mechanics are absolutely popping and you're going to stay in contact with the ground for as minimal time as possible so on one leg obviously work both sides we're going to stay on the balls of the feet we're going to stay on the toes we're going to hop in position activate and the whole leg getting that fast twitch neurological feedback going and basically telling your body that you want to use the ground and move fast don't overdo this one a couple of minutes 30 seconds each side twice round and you're going to be moving better and using the ground more effectively if you're ready to level up let's go to movement number two that is the rotational box jump It's one of our favorites for creating Next Level rotation and speed in your swing because we're going to create the same mechanics as you do in your golf swing and add even more vertical thoughts so to execute here again work both sides whenever people ask about that remember if you work the oppose inside your weak side you're going to get more balance you're going to get more awareness of movement patterns but also your body is going to be able to decelerate better that means you're going to be more willing to accelerate you build more speed so here to execute this movement you're going to use your body weight you're going to work down and rotate into the ground so it's that counter movement that's really going to make the difference use your arms use your upper body activate the core and then push off both legs with as much force as possible raising up turning 90 degrees and landing in excellent stable posture every single time you can do this now with the step down and go from static or you can go for a reactionary drop down straight into your next rep either way focus on how your feet work against the ground how your body really loads turns and then explodes because that is where you take this into your golf swing and hit it further than anybody you're playing with so we have the drill and two movements that you can do to level up your ground reaction forces it's also going to help you clear the hips get into a better position throughout your swing and make hitting the ball further effortless we all want that powerful swing so we need to go to work and get it done if you want to improve your swing more generally we have everything that you need no matter what level you are at whether it's Mobility whether it's simple workouts true strength and conditioning goal fight is the place to be so make sure you get your seven day a free trial subscribe to the channel and tell your friends so we can continue to grow and you can be a part of the strongest movement in golf foreign
