Single Leg Balance

Standing on one leg. Baseline balance and foot to hip stability that every swing borrows from.

balance

Why it matters for golf

The swing is a moving balance test that starts and finishes over the feet. Single leg balance trains the foot, ankle, and hip to keep the body centered without conscious effort, which frees the golfer to swing instead of steadying.

Coaching cues

  • Stand tall on one foot, eyes on a fixed point.
  • Grip the floor with the whole foot.
  • Hips level, knee soft.
  • Add difficulty only once you are steady.

Common faults

  • Hips dropping to one side.
  • Hopping and resetting instead of making small quiet corrections.
