Why it matters for golf
The Deadlift is huge for golf performance and your longevity overall.
Likely to be your heaviest lift, we are looking to build excellent form around increased strength and power over time.
How to perform
- Stand close to the bar with your feet underneath your Hips and connected to the ground.
- Hinge at the Hip and bring your shoulders over the bar, hands at shoulder width with a strong grip taking the tension of the bar.
- Push into the ground maintaining a neutral spine to start the movement. When past the knee, fire the glutes and power the lift with your posterior chain.
- Maintain a neutral spine all the way through the lift, finishing in a tall position with the body in alignment before returning the bar with control.
Alternatives
There are a lot of movement options for the Deadlift including different variations of the compound lift but also Dumbbells and Kettlebells for loaded variation.
You can also use Bands and Cables, the key is to hinge at the hip with great control and create high levels of force.
