Kettlebell Swing

Explosive hip hinge that builds the posterior-chain snap behind ground-up power in the swing.

hingepower

Why it matters for golf

The swing is a hip-hinge power pattern, the same load-and-explode sequence the downswing runs through the pelvis. Golfers who can't snap their hips forcefully leave clubhead speed on the table.

Coaching cues

  • Hinge, don't squat. Hips travel back, shins stay vertical.
  • The bell floats; the hips do the work. Arms are ropes.
  • Snap to a tall, braced finish. Glutes squeezed, ribs down.
  • Let the bell swing back into the hinge; don't lift it down.

Common faults

  • Squatting the swing (knees forward, torso upright at the bottom).
  • Pulling with the arms above chest height.
  • Overextending the lower back at the top instead of finishing with the glutes.
