Dumbbell Single Deadlift

A single-sided dumbbell deadlift that builds hinge strength with an added balance and stability demand.

hingebalance

Why it matters for golf

Loading the hinge one side at a time builds the glutes and hamstrings while the trunk fights to stay square. That single-sided stability transfers directly to weight shift and the lead-leg post-up in the swing.

Coaching cues

  • Push the hips back, keep a flat back.
  • Stay square, don't let the trunk twist open.
  • Keep the dumbbell close.
  • Own the balance before adding load or speed.

Common faults

  • Rounding the back.
  • Hips rotating open during the hinge.
  • Rushing reps and losing balance.
