lunge

Why it matters for golf

Golf loads one leg at a time. The split squat builds each leg's strength and stability so the golfer can accept pressure into the lead side and post up without wobble.

Coaching cues

  • Long stance, front foot flat, back heel up.
  • Drop straight down, not forward.
  • Front knee tracks over the toes.
  • Push through the front foot to stand.

Common faults

  • Torso pitching forward over the front leg.
  • Front knee diving inward.
